Paris Olympics Highlights Lyles' Dominance

Alexandria native Noah Lyles has returned home after a remarkable performance at the Paris Olympics, where he secured both a gold and bronze medal.

The 25-year-old sprinter took gold in the 200m with a time of 19.50 seconds, becoming only the fourth American to win the event in Olympic history.

Lyles also contributed to the bronze-winning effort in the 4x100m relay.

A Hero's Welcome Awaits

Alexandria is preparing to welcome home its Olympic hero with a parade and ceremony on Sunday, August 27th.

Mayor Justin Wilson praised Lyles' accomplishments and his positive impact on the community.

"Noah is not only an exceptional athlete but also an inspiration to our youth," said Wilson.

Lyles' Rise to Stardom

Lyles' journey to the pinnacle of sprinting began at Alexandria City High School, where he set national high school records in both the 200m and 400m.

After graduating in 2016, Lyles attended the University of Florida, where he continued to excel.

In 2019, he won the 200m at the World Athletics Championships, becoming the youngest American to do so since Usain Bolt.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Lyles' success has inspired young athletes in Alexandria and beyond.

The Alexandria City Track Club, where Lyles first began his track and field career, has seen a surge in membership since his Olympic triumph.

Lyles' return home is sure to ignite further passion for the sport and inspire the next generation of Olympians.
