Bayer Leverkusen Sets New European Unbeaten Streak Record

Longest Run in Continental History

Bayer Leverkusen has etched its name in European football history by setting a new record for the longest unbeaten streak. The Bundesliga club extended its undefeated run to 23 games with a 1-1 draw against AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday, surpassing the previous record held by Benfica Lisbon.

Impressive Run Continues

Leverkusen's impressive streak began on August 23 with a 2-1 victory over FC Augsburg. Since then, the team has remained unbeaten in all competitions, including wins over FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund. The draw against Roma marked the first time Leverkusen had failed to win in Europe since December 8.

Stanisic's Last-Minute Heroics

In the Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt, Leverkusen relied on last-minute heroics from Josip Stanisic to secure a 2-1 win in the first leg. The defender's goal proved crucial as Leverkusen advanced to the final despite a 1-0 defeat in the second leg.

International Success

Leverkusen's unbeaten run has not only made history in Europe but has also helped the club achieve international success. The team reached the Europa League final for the first time since 1988 and will face Rangers FC in Seville on May 18. Leverkusen will also compete in next season's Champions League after finishing third in the Bundesliga.
